1. Product status
Paletide is an independently developed third-party macOS theme app. It is not an OpenAI product and is not sponsored, endorsed, or authorized by OpenAI. Codex, ChatGPT, OpenAI, and related names, trademarks, and product interfaces belong to their respective rights holders.
2. Open-source license
Paletide's public source code and the repository content expressly identified as project assets are provided under the MIT License. Subject to preserving the copyright and permission notices required by that license, anyone may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, or sell MIT-covered material.
Nothing in these terms about purchases, the official DMG, license codes, hosted licensing, or support withdraws, adds restrictions to, or reduces rights already granted by the MIT License. Opening the source does not automatically license the Paletide name, logo, or third-party rights not expressly covered by MIT.
3. Official DMG and services
The prebuilt DMG linked by this website, the hosted license-verification service, and order support are maintained by the Paletide project. The official app currently connects to that service using a license code. Prices, service terms, device allowances, delivery, and support follow the purchase listing and order agreement.
Those terms govern only hosted services, credentials, and order support. They do not restrict anyone from building, modifying, or distributing source code under the MIT License. Self-built or third-party distributions do not automatically receive official signing, updates, hosted licensing, or support and must not impersonate an official Paletide release.
4. System requirements and compatibility
The current official release supports macOS 13 or later only and requires a supported official Codex or ChatGPT desktop app for macOS. The Windows version remains in development and has not been released.
Future updates to the official desktop app may change its technical structure. Paletide will make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility with the versions it declares as supported, but it does not promise compatibility with every future release or every organization-managed environment.
5. Technical boundary
Paletide does not modify the official .app, app.asar, or code signature. Themes are applied through a local debugging connection bound only to 127.0.0.1. That connection has significant privileges. While a theme is active, do not run untrusted local software; when you are not using a theme, you can choose Restore Official Appearance.
6. User images and content rights
You should import only images that you created, are licensed to use, or otherwise have the legal right to use. Paletide claims no rights in images you import and is not responsible for copyrights, publicity or personality rights, trademarks, or other third-party rights that those images may involve.
7. Installing the unsigned official release
Until Paletide obtains a Developer ID and completes Apple notarization, macOS may block the first launch. Download Paletide only from the GitHub Release linked by this website, then follow the installation guide to choose Open Anyway in Privacy & Security. Do not disable Gatekeeper system-wide or run an untrusted bypass command.
8. License codes and hosted services
A license code for the official hosted service is for use by the purchaser within the agreed scope. It must not be shared publicly, resold, used to appropriate another person's credentials, or used to access the service fraudulently. Removing a license locally does not automatically release its server-side device slot. Before changing devices, contact the seller through the original purchase channel.
You may still modify license-related source code under the MIT License. The MIT License does not grant access to official servers, another person's license code, the Paletide trademark, or official support services.
9. Updates and service suspension
Paletide may publish source-code and official-DMG updates to address security issues, adapt to changes in the official desktop app, or improve the experience. Credentials or service access may be suspended for violations of an order agreement, public distribution of a license code, credential theft, attacks, or abuse of an official service. Such suspension does not alter anyone's license rights in MIT-covered material they have already received.
10. Support and contact
For installation, licensing, device replacement, or after-sales support, contact the seller through the original Xianyu order conversation. The order record helps confirm the purchased license terms and current authorization status.
